How is everyone doing?

Good heavens! It feels like ages since I last saw my own blog.

How have all of you been? (Professionally speaking, of course.)

Over the past month, I have attended a number of networking events, met some professional counsellors, and promoted myself on websites such as Kijiji and Craigslist. By way of a Halloween gift (if such a thing exists), a Twitter colleague contacted me yesterday evening, wanting to know if I would like to help her out in English translation/editing/proofreading duties. Without any hesitation, I accepted the offer. I’m waiting to receive details. Could this mark the end of my long quest for partnerships or projects? We’ll see.

Meanwhile, I received an invitation to join Translating Canada/Le Canada traduit, a bilingual community-based group dedicated to promote the country’s language industry and language professionals. Members are allowed to post job offers, announce special events, and ask general questions about the industry. Upon a colleague’s suggestion, I will soon join Synaxis, a group connecting entrepreneurs and small businesses through networking, sharing experiences, and developing partnerships. From what I heard, some of the members work in the language industry. What a great way to make new contacts and develop new partnerships!

As you can see, last month was busier than I expected, but at least I was active!

While waiting to find a convenient moment to dedicate myself to writing other blog entries, I’d like to know what all of you have been up to. Did any of you launch or undertake new projects? Were you able to attend networking events, conferences, workshops? Have you had a steady flow of work? Do you have any new clients? Feel free to share your news with me and other members. I would love to hear from you!
